Privacy Policy

Fashionate is designed as a personal AI styling companion. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your data — and how third-party AI providers handle the information we share with them to power the product.

1. Data Sovereignty

Your wardrobe is your private domain. We never sell, trade, or rent your personal data or uploaded images to third parties. All styling logic is processed in a secure environment designed to protect your fashion intelligence.

Fashionate AI is operated by SmartAICreations. Our infrastructure is hosted on Supabase (PostgreSQL database and file storage) and Vercel (web hosting), both of which operate under their own data processing agreements.

2. Encryption & Security

We utilize AES-256 encryption for data at rest and TLS for all transmissions. Access to your archive is strictly controlled through secure authentication protocols.

Wardrobe images are stored in Supabase Storage with private bucket policies. Only authenticated users can access their own images.

3. AI Processing & Third-Party AI Services

To deliver its features, Fashionate sends data to the following third-party AI providers. Each provider processes data under their own privacy terms:

• Anthropic Claude — powers your AI stylist chat, wardrobe health analysis, shopping suggestions, couple look generation, travel packing lists, and content moderation. Anthropic does not use API data to train public models.
• Google Gemini & Imagen — powers wardrobe item scanning, generates personalised shopping and outfit images, and powers style DNA analysis. Your profile data is included in prompts sent to Google’s API.
• Fal.ai (FASHN Try-On) — processes your uploaded person photo alongside selected wardrobe item images to generate AI try-on results. Photos are transmitted to Fal.ai’s servers for inference and are not stored beyond the session.
• Photoroom / Background Removal — removes backgrounds from wardrobe item photos for clean presentation. Only the item image is shared.
• OpenWeatherMap — fetches current weather for your saved city to power outfit and travel suggestions. Only your city name is sent.

EU AI Act transparency (Regulation 2024/1689): Fashionate uses general-purpose AI models to generate styling suggestions, outfit imagery, and try-on visualisations. AI-generated content is labelled within the product. You may request human review of any automated decision that significantly affects you by contacting hello@fashionateai.com.

Your data is used only to provide services to you and is not used to train any global public AI model. You can disable AI personalisation data collection at any time from Profile → Settings → Privacy.

3a. Body & Age Data in AI

Features such as shopping suggestions and AI try-on use your profile data — including age, height, weight, body shape, and skin tone — to personalise AI-generated content. You must be 18 or older to use these features.

3b. Partner Styling & Data Sharing

The Style Together feature (Elite plan) allows you to connect with a partner. When connected:

• Your partner can view your wardrobe items including names, categories, colours and photos.
• Your profile information (name, city, style preferences) is visible to your partner.
• Generated couple looks including AI outfit images are stored and visible to both connected users.
• You can remove a partner connection at any time. This immediately revokes their access to your wardrobe.
• You can control wardrobe visibility per partner using the Privacy Controls in Style Together settings.

3c. Travel Planner

The Travel Planner feature (Pro and Elite plans) uses the following data:

• Your destination city name is sent to OpenWeatherMap API for a 5-day forecast. No GPS coordinates are shared.
• Your wardrobe items, sizes, and style preferences are sent to Anthropic Claude API to generate your packing list and outfit plan.
• Trip data including destination, dates, packing list and outfit plan is stored in your account and can be deleted from the Calendar page at any time.

4. Chat History & Retention

Chat messages are retained for 12 months to improve your personalised AI suggestions. Sessions with no activity for 90 days are automatically archived. You can delete your chat history at any time from Profile → Settings → Privacy.

5. What Data We Collect

We collect information you provide directly: your email address, profile information (name, age, gender, body measurements, style preferences), wardrobe item images you upload, and chat messages you send to our AI stylist. We also collect usage data such as pages visited, features used, and device information to improve our service.

6. Wardrobe Image Storage

Wardrobe images are stored securely in cloud storage with AES-256 encryption at rest. Background-removed versions are generated and cached. You can delete any image at any time, and deletion is permanent from our active systems.

7. Your Rights

Right to Access

You can export all your data including wardrobe items, outfit logs and usage history from Profile → Settings → Privacy.

Right to Delete

Deleting your account permanently removes all wardrobe data, images, chat history and profile information from our active systems within 30 days. Backups are purged within 90 days.

Right to Correct

You can update your profile information, wardrobe items and preferences at any time from your account settings.

Right to Opt Out of AI

You can disable AI personalisation data collection from Profile → Settings → Privacy.

GDPR — EU/UK Users

If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have additional rights under GDPR including data portability, the right to restrict processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Our lawful basis for processing your data is contractual necessity and legitimate interest.

CCPA — California Users

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.

8. Data Retention

• Wardrobe items and images: retained until account deletion
• Chat history: 12 months from last activity
• Usage logs: 24 months
• Weather cache: 1 hour TTL, overwritten on refresh
• Trip data: retained until manually deleted or account deletion
• AI response cache: 30 days rolling window
• Deleted account data: purged within 30 days, backups within 90 days
